With the first snowstorm of 2025 rolling through the region, most schools were closed on Monday, Jan. 6, and some districts chose to be proactive and called off classes on Tuesday as a precaution.
As of 5:30 p.m. on Monday, these districts have announced closures:
Maryland
- Anne Arundel County Public Schools;
- Baltimore County Public Schools;
- Calvert County Public Schools;
- Charles County Public Schools;
- College of Southern Maryland;
- Dorchester County Public Schools;
- Frederick County Schools;
- Howard County Schools;
- Montgomery County Public Schools;
- Mount Airy Christian Academy (two-hour delay);
- Prince George's County Public Schools;
- Salisbury University.
Virginia
- Alexandria Country Day School;
- Arlington County Public Schools;
- Berkeley County Public Schools;
- Culpeper County Schools (and Wednesday);
- Fairfax County Schools;
- Falls Church Schools;
- Fauquier County Public Schools;
- Frederick Count Public Schools;
- Fredericksburg City Public Schools;
- Foxcroft School;
- Fredericksburg Public Schools;
King George County Schools;
- Loudoun County Public Schools;
- Manassas City Public Schools;
- Prince William County Public Schools;
- Rappahannock Community College;
- Shenandoah County Public Schools;
- Spotsylvania County Public Schools
- Stafford County Public Schools;
- University of Mary Washington;
- Warren County Schools;
- Westminster School;
- Winchester Public Schools.
